This is a beautiful tooth from this feathered raptor, the enamel has little wear and the serrations are clear and visible. These swift hunters were not the largest of Dinosaurs and the size of the teeth reflect this. This is a superb tooth from an important Dinosaur, on the discovery of an almost complete fossil of Saurornitholestes in 2019 which highlighted the placement of a unique flat tooth in the front of the jaws. This suggested that this tooth was used to preen feathers, such teeth have been identified in other Dromaeosaurid Dinosaurs since.

This particular tooth was found at Hill County, Montana, Judith River Formation, USA.

Scientific name- Saurornitholestes Langstoni

Size- approximately 1.8 metres long.

Diet- Carniverous, meat eating. Lizards, reptiles, smaller Dinosaurs, insects.

Habitat- Dry arid.

Where found- Canada (Alberta) and the United States (Montana, New Mexico, Alabama, North Carolina, and South Carolina)

Time- Late cretaceous- approx 77-66 million years ago.
