Priscacara is an extinct genus of predatory perch type fish from the middle Eocene approx 40 million years ago, found at the green river formation Wyoming. Priscacara is characterised by its deep set stout body and anal spines with its sharp predatory teeth. It is thought that these fish swam in schools and attacked as a group, much like Piraña do today. This fossil is a superbly detailed example and rivals that of any specimens found on show in museums. The bones are raised and the colour is extraordinary, the spines along the top and bottom are evenly spaced and raised up. This item gives a true insight into how these fish looked all those millions of years ago.
