Mosasaurs comprise of a group of large extinct marine animals that swam our seas during the late Cretaceous era around 101-66 million years ago. With the extinction of the Pliosaurs and Ichthyosaurs the giant mosasaur became the dominant predator of the seas, they became extinct themselves at the end of the Cretaceous era 66 million years ago. From fossil records Mosasaur could reach lengths of 50 feet and weigh in at approx 30,000 pounds.This is a lovely example of this incredible super sized predator of the deep.
