Carcharodontosaurus, aff. saharicus (carnosaur)145-72.1 myo,morocco

This tooth is a lovely example, the size is not on its side but it has lots of detail such as the detailed serrated edge of the distal carina. The mesial edge has some feeding wear as does the tip but serrations are still visible.
Carcharodontosaurus was a ferocious theropod that lived in what is now known as Africa during the Cretacious period between 145-72.1 million years ago. There are two known species, Sahaicus and Iguidensis which are both among the largest of the theropods, nearly , or even larger than that of the Tyrannosaurus rex, but equally as fearsome and terrifying. From fossil remains Carcharodontosaurus was estimated to measure 12-14 metres in length and weigh approx between 6 and 15 tonnes.
